Villano de las Encartaciones is a breed of cattle that originated in the Basque Country region of Spain, specifically in the Encartaciones area of Biscay province. They are a medium-sized, dual-purpose breed used for both meat and milk production. Villanos have a distinctive black coat with a white belt around their middle and a white face. They are known for their hardiness and adaptability to the harsh climate and rugged terrain of their native region. The breed was in danger of extinction in the 20th century, but conservation efforts have increased their numbers in recent years. Villano de las Encartaciones is currently considered a protected breed by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture.
